（檳城訊）水晶龍宮、龍門客棧、《萬龍圖》、“許願龍王”、龍王選婿嫁女、龍王出巡、龍椅扮龍王等等，還有各種各樣與龍相關的主題，將令《祥龍獻瑞慶壬辰新春文化廟會2012》“龍”氣十足。

即將在大年初七（1月29日）舉行的新春文化廟會，配合屬於龍年的新春佳節，廟會工委會答應再次將為公眾帶來精彩好戲。

總策劃鍾騅巾賓說，工委在《御膳區》仿傚著名電影《龍門客棧》的概念來呈獻中華飲食和料理，讓現代人瞭解古人飲食方式和食津。

邀公眾完成20呎許願龍王

“由於龍在華人心目中擁有神秘且崇高的地位，我們在世德堂謝公司設立了一個以水晶龍宮設計的《傳奇區》，同時邀請公眾隨身攜帶家中已棄用的光碟，一起完成長約20呎長的許願龍王。”

《祥龍獻瑞慶壬辰新春文化廟會2012》同樣獲得檳州政府和檳州各姓氏宗聯委主催，檳州各姓氏青聯委作為主辦單位，東方集團和麗星郵輪則是兩大主要贊助商。

鍾騅巾賓在新聞發佈會上說，今年也少不了強調養生健體的《養生區》，以“盛世擂台”的舞台方式呈獻養身保健秘訣，至於《文藝區》顧名思義，就是中華文藝中的琴棋書畫茶花詩七種藝術。

檳州五籍貫鄉團參與《籍貫區》

他說，《籍貫區》再次得到檳州五大籍貫鄉團的參與，分別展示各自的鄉土風情、家鄉美食及歌曲舞蹈等，青聯委則呈獻《追宗溯祖，承先啟後》姓氏資料街，並配合《那些年……我們走過的日子》歷屆新春廟會精彩圖片，在打銅仔街一一展出。

工委會主席謝川偉特別感謝過去多年一起合作的聯辦單位，使得工委會與聯辦單位建立一定的默契，順利完成籌備工作。

青聯委栽培許多精英

黃漢偉說，青聯委主辦的大型新春文化廟會，近年來影響檳威兩地的社團組織，紛紛跟隨步伐主辦小型廟會。

他說，青聯委在新春文化廟會籌備過程中也栽培了許多精英，讓他們有機會返回各自的組織去領導，甚至回到本身居住的社區，主辦不同方式的新春活動，把廟會文化傳承下去。

麗星郵輪檳城營運助理副總裁盛錦龍說，麗星郵輪將於廟會當天，在主牌樓前設立攤位。

工委會今年再度主辦“喬治市文化遺產城新春文化廟會攝影比賽”，參加者將有機會成為總值超過1萬4千令吉的獎品和獎金的幸運兒。

聯辦單位檳城報界俱樂部秘書洪東凱說，比賽獲得麗星郵輪贊助6份雙人郵輪旅遊配套，包括每份總值超過4千令吉的“天秤星號”4天3夜普吉島―甲米雙人配套兩份。

比賽分公開及學生組

他說，比賽分為公開組及學生組，參加者只需要出席廟會，拍攝廟會的各種主題，並印出自認為最滿意的作品交給工委會。

“公開組的報名費是每人5令吉，報界俱樂部會員豁免報名費。學生組一律免費，只公開給各層次在籍學生參加，不包括修讀校外課程學生、工讀生、碩士與博士研究生等。每個組別單一參賽者最多可交上3份作品。”

他說，比賽只接受現場報名，所有參加者需於1月29日下午5時至晚上9時之間到廟會秘書處報名，交件的截止日期是2月15日。

受影響魚池區居民申請獲批‧宏願組屋2月杪前可入住

（檳城‧大山腳訊）受發展計劃影響必須搬遷的魚池區居民，如有申請宏願組屋，可在2月杪之前遷入居住。

魚池區居民於去年接到發展商發出的搬遷函件，曾引發風波，在州政府協調下，居民獲得發展商發給補償金，風波才告平息下來，然而一些居民卻沒能力購買屋子，因此申請入住宏願組屋。

發展商在多次的商談後，通融居民在農曆新年後即2月29日之前搬空，如今申請宏願組屋的居民已獲批准，居民也放下心頭大石。

抽籤決定新居所

昨早（17日），申請入住宏願組屋的魚池區居民聚集在宏願組屋底樓，抽籤決定新居所，在場者有檳州房屋委員會主席黃漢偉及巴東拉浪州議員陳宗興。

陳宗興：準備20單位僅17戶申請

陳宗興說，州政府準備20個宏願組屋單位給魚池區居民申請，不過申請者只有17戶。

“4所屋子已被拆除的居民，可以在農曆新年前遷入宏願組屋。”

他說，供魚池區居民遷入的宏願組屋單位正在維修，空置已久的這些單位電線、鐵門被偷，州政府要求發展商負起裝修義務。

他說，獲准優先遷入的住戶，只要繳付抵押金給宏願組屋管理層、國能、檳州供水公司就可遷入。

黃漢偉：居民勿憂租借契約期限

黃漢偉說，雖然組屋租借契約註明期限至2013年12月31日，但是居民可以放心，只要還有需要，就可以繼續住在有關單位。

“如果居民有意購屋組屋單位，距離宏願組屋約7公里的帝沙帝帝邦讓（Desa Titi Panjang），有60個廉價組屋單位，每單位售價3萬5千令吉。”

他說，州政府非常關心魚池區搬遷問題，在住所問題獲得解決後，居民可安心過年了。（星洲日報／大北馬）

（檳城21日訊）“八仙”、“五路財神”在喬治市古蹟區現身，向路過的車輛司機和遊客拜年，令外國遊客受寵若驚。

鐵拐李、漢鐘離、呂洞賓、張果老、曹國舅、韓湘子、何仙姑、藍采和，“五路財神”福祿壽喜財和麗星郵輪吉祥物“查理船長”，今日上午在廟會牌樓前出現，為1月29日的《祥龍獻瑞慶壬辰新春文化廟會2012》造勢，派發吉柑、傳單給民眾和車輛司機。

工委會也推介貼上宣傳廣告的“CAT免費環市巴士”，在喬治市為廟會作流動式宣傳。

廟會工委也向路過者拜早年，希望藉造勢活動鼓勵民眾出席的廟會。出席者包括檳州藝術委員會主席黃漢偉、工委會主席謝川偉、依恩奧酒店總經理馬可、麗星郵輪檳城營運助理副總裁盛錦龍、企業傳訊及公關部主任洪嘉玲等人。

黃漢偉說，檳島市政局將在廟會當天免費開放土庫街停車場給民眾停放車輛。

當天的無車日也縮短至下午1時結束，下午3時開始的文化廟會不會受到影響。

（檳城）檳州政府實行的4大方案，將能夠舒緩新春期間亞依淡大塞車的老問題。

阿依淡州議員黃漢偉昨日（20日）向亞依淡民眾拜早年時說，新春期間大塞車，是亞依淡年年有之的大問題，不過今年不會那麼怕人。

前晚（19日）極樂寺萬佛光明燈亮燈儀式之後，大批遊客湧向山門，一些駕車人士1小時困在車龍陣是平常事。為此，人們不大願意取道亞依淡。

黃漢偉說，今年龍年新春亞依淡的交通會有所改善，雖然不能完全解決，不過，當局實行的解決交通問題4大方案，肯定能夠抒緩交通。

他這天上午準備了大量紅包封、柑、賀年卡，和紅色的新春圍巾分發給亞依淡民眾。

其中紅色圍巾，是分發給當地小販穿戴，除了讓遊客覺得當地美食清潔衛生，也讓遊客感染到處是紅的新春氣氛。

有關解決交通問題4大方案，將允許更多人到亞依淡觀光、享受小販和餐館售賣的美食和購買荳蔻、榴槤糕等土產。

檳政府解決亞依淡交通問題4大方案

黃漢偉說，民聯州政府解決亞依淡交通問題的4大方案如下：

（一）2年前已很有遠見的撥出土地，售賣給極樂寺興建停車場，以便容納更多的轎車和旅遊巴士。

（二）除了向警方交通組和檳島市政局進行協調，也增派志願警衛團員駐守旅遊區維持交通秩序。其中，至少派遣8名團員到極樂寺，和15名團員到升旗山山腳執勤。

（三）檳州回教堂路為前往亞依淡的要道，目前已進行加寬道路工程。

（四）前往亞依淡的選擇性道路天德園路已加寬，讓更多車輛可以通過那裡，繞道壟尾路到極樂寺、亞依淡市鎮，或升旗山腳。

亞依淡4大景點吸引遊客題主黃漢偉說，亞依淡有4大旅遊景點，吸引遊客於新春期間從四面八方湧到這個檳城老市鎮。

亞依淡四大旅遊景點

（一）亞依淡老市鎮菜市場─除夕前的農曆十二月廿八和廿九，正是這個菜市場進入不夜天的時刻，巴剎從早到午夜都充滿顧客。

目前檳城許多地方的除夕前不夜天菜市場，已逐漸被霸級市場取代，不過亞依淡仍保留它傳統的不夜天市場色彩，雖然不再像過去般營業至凌晨二時或三時。

（二）極樂寺─即日開始，極樂寺已經每天晚上萬盞光明燈照耀山門，一直亮到農曆正月廿五。許多人特地於晚上到極樂寺觀賞夜景，因此當地晚上也堵車。

外埠遊客，出遠門回家鄉過年的遊子，都喜歡極樂寺萬燈齊亮的夜景。它也是攝影愛好者不容錯過的獵影景點。

（三）升旗山─第三代纜車去年上路，迎來了新的快速纜車時代第一個農曆新年，人們除了上升旗山遠眺喬治市美景，也要試試快速的纜車之遊。

去年年杪聖誕節升旗山單單一天便迎接了6千名遊客，龍年新春旅遊旺季，上山的遊人絡繹不絕是預料中事。

（四）升旗山腳檳榔嶼抗戰紀念碑─今年這座紀念碑旁多了一些抗日英雄雕像，及和平鴿標誌，增添了它的吸引力。

檳州華人社會重拾對於這個紀念碑的集體記憶，去年重修紀念碑的花園時，也邀請中國學者，和中國南僑機工組織人士前來參觀，使它重新引起國際的注意。

日恆法師：應付春節需求
尚未完工停車場暫時開放

極樂寺住持日恆法師說，為了應付新春佳節停車位的殷切需求，極樂寺暫時開放尚未完工的停車場，讓人們有更大的停車空間。

他說，極樂寺原有約500個停車格位，隨著3個新停車場暫時開放使用，這個山門的停車格位已增加至約700個。

有關3個新停車場為前醉林居地段、前西湖園地段，和山門下已改道的填平溪流地段。（星洲日報／大北馬）

（檳城20日訊）前陣子鬧得沸騰的阿依淡極樂寺停車場風波，總算排除困難，能夠在這個農曆春節期間暫時開放，為避免塞車掃興，另外4個新舊停車場也一併讓民眾停放車子，以應付農曆十二月廿八日至年初五高峰期的數以千計的旅客潮。
極樂寺方丈拿督斯里日恆法師透露，包含前醉林居、前西湖園及寺內原有的停車場等，一共可容納700輛轎車及12輛大型巴士。
阿依淡區州議員黃漢偉指出，檳島市政局於2年前批准極樂寺購地申請，在其山腳下一片地段充作停車場用途，兩週前已鋪上柏油，加上周邊停車場，明顯比去年的500個停車位還要多。
他是於週五偕同助理一行人拜訪阿依淡街坊時如是表示，較後還派發1000個紅包封和賀卡、25箱柑及150件“綠意檳城”紅色圍裙。

他披露，一週前已召集極樂寺、升旗山機構、警方與檳島市政局代表召開會議作出匯報，要求各方給予配合，以便商討更妥善的交通方案，舒緩當地車流量。此外，亦安排自願警衛在從巴剎通往極樂寺的路程指引交通秩序。
他指出，本身也是升旗山機構董事，去年12月杪跟居民對話，了解所面對的佳節困擾，所以要求該機構委派專員維持交通，同時民眾也可把車子停放在天公壇停車場，共有86個車位。
“前往阿依淡的道路也加寬了，如州回教堂路擴充多一條車道都將近竣工；已完成80%工程的天德園大道也會鋪柏油，新年期間重新開放給道路使用者，相信今年不會遇到交通阻塞。”

阿依淡擁4景點 遊客必遊處

黃漢偉指出，阿依淡是國內外遊客及檳城人必到之處，因為擁有重要的4個景點，無論春節前後，菜市場都是個“不夜城”，由於明晚和後天（21日及22日）大家都要做最後衝刺的準備，相信人潮更洶湧，會塞到寸步難行。

“隨著極樂寺亮燈後，從初一到正月廿八(2月19日)，遊客特別喜歡前來觀光拍照。”
黃漢偉說，自升旗山第3代纜車上路，今年是迎接首個春節，根據統計顯示，在去年聖誕節時期，每天超過6000人遊覽升旗山。

他說，升旗山腳下的檳榔嶼抗日殉難同胞紀念碑經過翻新後，增加不少旅遊元素，這主要4個因素都是造成阿依淡成為各地遊客的吸引賣點。

AIR Itam in Penang will be a hive of activity beginning today as thousands of locals and foreigners will be visiting the place famous for its tourist spots and wet market in conjunction with Chinese New Year.

Large crowds of people are expected to throng the Kek Lok Si Temple, Penang Hill, the newly refurbished Penang Overseas Chinese Anti-Japanese War Memorial and the popular Air Itam market.

Air Itam assemblyman Wong Hon Wai said measures had been taken to help ease traffic woes in the area during the festive season.

He said Rela members were being stationed at strategic road intersections to help direct traffic leading to tourist spots.

“We anticipate hundreds of thousands of people to come here during the Chinese New Year season, especially until the fifth day of the Lunar New Year,” he said before giving out aprons, mandarin oranges and red packets to hawkers, petty traders and the public at the Air Itam market yesterday.

Wong said parking bays at the surrounding areas of Kek Lok Si Temple would be increased from 500 to 700 bays.

Three vacant spaces will also be opened up to accommodate 12 coaches bringing in tourists.

“Those visiting Penang Hill can park their vehicles at the Thnee Kong Tnua Temple located near the foot of the hill,” said Wong.

“Traffic flow has improved following the completion of the road-widening project at the Jalan Air Itam-Jalan Mesjid Negeri junction.

“Besides that, the road-widening project at Lebuhraya Thean Teik-Lorong Batu Lanchang junction is also 80% completed,” he said.

“Hopefully, the widening of these two roads which lead to Air Itam can alleviate the traffic congestion there,” he said.

Wong added that the Air Itam market was expected to be packed today as many people would be doing their last minute shopping for essentials such as fruits, vegetables, fresh produce and steamboat items.

He said market-goers prefer the Air Itam market for its fresh produce, Chinese New Year cookies and decorative items, dried meat, clothes and prayer paraphernalia.

GEORGE TOWN: The inner city was transformed into a fairyland of lights as 2,400 bright red lanterns were lit up for the first time this year.

The lanterns that adorn over half a dozen roads surrounding Armenian Street, were put up in conjunction with the upcoming annual Chinese New Year Cultural and Heritage Celebration.

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng stood under an arch between two towering golden dragons to flip a switch and officiate the lighting ceremony.

Together with members of the cultural and heritage celebration’s organising committee, Lim then took a short walk around the heritage enclave to get a closer look at the festive decorations.

Organising committee secretary Loh Boon Huan said the lanterns would be lit every night until Chap Goh Meh — the 15th and final day of Chinese New Year that falls on Feb 6.

On a related issue, Lim, who was accompanied by state executive councillors Chow Kon Yeow and Wong Hon Wai, said the re-tarring of Jalan Mesjid Kapitan Keling was postponed to after the Chinese New Year.

“The work was scheduled for January, but because of the inconvenience that it will cause, the state government has decided to postpone the job until after the Chinese New Year celebration,” Lim said.

In August last year, the state announced that an 800m-stretch of cobblestone on Jalan Mesjid Kapitan Keling would be re-tarred after numerous complaints from the public about its rough surface.

The Chinese New Year Cultural and Heritage Celebration is jointly organised by the Penang Chinese Clan Council, Penang Clan Associations Youth Committee and Penang Government.

White Knights revive abandoned projects- launching of Taman Bukit Erskine

A DEVELOPER is building 554 low medium-cost apartment units along Lebuhraya Halia in Tanjung Tokong, Penang.

Currently 30% complete, the 38-storey Taman Bukit Erskine developed by Ivory Villas Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary company of Ivory Properties Group Berhad, is expected to be completed in 2014.

Ivory Properties Group Berhad executive director Ron Loh said each unit with a built-up area of 654sq ft comes with three bedrooms, a bathroom and a washroom.

“Despite being a low-medium cost project, the apartments offer good views,” he said in a press conference at Penang Time Square on Friday.

He added that the project was abandoned for 11 years due to the 1997 economic crisis and was revived when Ivory took up the project as a white knight in 2007.

Originally named Fettes Villa, the project was later renamed Mount Erskine Development which consists of The Peak Residences, The Latitude and Taman Bukit Erskine.

Loh said the group had since changed the initial 500sq ft layout plan to 654sq ft and increased the units from 363 to 554.

He also said former purchasers who had paid the deposit in the previous project can opt to purchase the units or get a full refund next year.

“According to a court order, we can only refund the deposit a year after we launch this project.

“So far, 30% of the 363 former purchasers wanted to continue with this project,” he said.

State Town and Country Planning, Housing and Arts Committee chairman Wong Hon Wai who launched the project said that he had contacted Rapid Penang to consider plying the route there.

“They used to ply the route but in 2007, they stopped due to poor response.

“I suggest that the bus company conduct a study on the need to service the route there since the apartments are coming up,” he said.

He added that the public could send their feedback to Rapid Penang at rapidcare@rapidpg.com.my.

Wong also said that since 2008, seven abandoned projects including Taman Bukit Erskine had been revived and were at different stages of completion.

The projects are Desa Aman in Paya Terubong, Taman Cemerlang in Bandar Baru Air Itam, Mengkuang Heights and Taman Guar Perahu Indah in Central Seberang Prai, Taman Orkid Indah in North Seberang Prai and Taman Pekatra in South Seberang Prai.

On a related issue, Wong said the request for proposal (RFP) period for the revival of the Majestic Heights project in Paya Terubong ended on Jan 6.

He added that the Malaysia Building Society Berhad and the property liquidator Deloitte Kassim Chan had called for the RFP on Oct 7 last year.

“Phase 2A, 2B and 3A have been abandoned.

“They are going through the submissions by several developers.

“We hope that the phases can be completed soon after being abandoned for more than 10 years,” he said.

MORE than 2,500 low- and low medium-cost units will be made available in Penang following the revival of seven abandoned housing projects.

Three of the projects are on the island -- they are Desa Aman, Fettes Villa (which has been renamed to Taman Bukit Erskine) and Taman Cemerlang.

The other four are Mengkuang Heights and Taman Guar Perahu Indah (in the Seberang Prai Tengah district), Taman Orkid Indah (in the Seberang Prai Utara district) and Taman Pekatra (in the Seberang Prai Selatan district).

State Housing Committee chairman Wong Hon Wai said the seven projects, which had been abandoned for between five and 15 years, were in various stages of revival.

"Thanks to 'white knights', these projects will be revived (once) again.

"With the completion of these affordable houses within the next few years, more and more people in the state will be able to own houses," he said at the launching ceremony of the Taman Bukit Erskine project at Penang Times Square here yesterday.

Present were Ivory Properties Group Bhd executive director Ron Loh, chief operating officer Datuk Ooi Chin Loo and deputy chief operating officer Goh Chin Heng.

The Taman Bukit Erskine is undertaken by Ivory Villas Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Ivory Properties.

It was abandoned for 11 years due to the 1997 economic crisis before Ivory Villas stepped forward as a 'white knight' to revive the project following a High Court arrangement.

A total of 554 low- and low medium-cost units are being offered in Lebuhraya Halia in Tanjung Tokong here with a built-up area of 60.75sq m each and priced at RM72,500.

Originally, only 363 units were offered with a built-up area of 46.45sq m.

Loh said the Taman Bukit Erskine project is now 30 per cent completed and is expected to fully completed in 2014.

Meanwhile, Wong said the state government was looking into efforts to revive other long-abandoned housing projects in the state.

"There is now a glimmer of hope for purchasers of these long-abandoned project," he said.

（槟城14日讯）玮力产业集团接手拯救，耗资4000万令吉重新打造的白云山“云景园”（前身为花地园房屋计划）正式推介，受搁置计划影响的前购屋者可选择继续向玮力购屋，或取回之前所付的头期钱。

白武士玮力集团于2007年接手拯救后，于去年开始复工的白云山“云景园”中廉价公寓已完成30%工程，今日正式举行推介礼。

这项计划更从原本的500平方尺单位面积增加至654平方尺，单位数目也从363间增加至554间，售价从7万2500令吉起。

槟州行政议员黄汉伟指出，根据法庭谕令，发展商必须在该被拯救的房屋发展计划正式推介一年后，退还1万令吉头期购屋款项的第一批付款予要求退款的受影响购屋者。

云景园公寓推介礼

他是于昨日中午为白云山云景园中廉价公寓主持推介礼后，在记者会上这样指出。

罗振铨指出，在363名前购屋者当中，目前已有30%的购屋者选择继续向玮力购屋，至于另65%的购屋者签署同意书，要求退回之前缴付予前发展商的20%头期钱或1万令吉，仅有剩余的5%购屋者仍未被联络上。

有鉴于此，他促请这些购屋者尽快联络该公司04-210 8000或槟州房屋局04-650 5392。

他说，随着时代的变迁和人们对居住环境的素质要求已提高，同时也受现有房屋条例限制的情况下，玮力产业集团耗资4000万令吉重新包装及销售这栋高入云端的“云景园”，38层楼高，拥有三房一厅及一间浴室及一间厕所实用格局，已进行了约30%的工程，预计可在2014年的下半年完工。

白云山居民可上网反映 要求恢复快捷通服务

黄汉伟促请白云山一带居民及购屋者踊跃上网向槟城快捷通（Rapid Penag）巴士公司反映民情，要求重新恢复川行白云山路载客路线。

他说，由于乘客少，使到快捷通巴士公司于2007年开始以这为由，取消白云山路的载客路线。

不过，黄汉伟说，继Puncak Erskine中廉价组屋后，将于2014年建竣及入伙的白云山“云景园”将有554个单位入伙，即将需要更完善的公共交通服务。

因此，他促请当地居民及未来购屋者上快捷通服务网站http://rapidcare@rapidpenang.com.my浏览，并在该网站反映心声，促使该巴士公司恢复载客路线。

（槟城6日讯）槟州首席部长林冠英指出，槟州政府希望槟州一年一度的新春庙会能够扩大成为一项也能吸引外州甚至外国人民参与的盛会，声名远播，响透全国及东南亚。

他说，这是因为这项盛会展现槟州华人独特的文化，而州政府希望今年度的盛会能够吸引突破10万人参与的目标。

他认为，如果没有这项新春庙会，槟州庆祝华人农历新年，就像是“味道不足”，所以州政府已决定常年赞助这项盛会，让这项盛会继续举办。

他透露，这项盛会是于1994年开始举办，依恩奥酒店从不间断赞助，今年这项盛会更获得丽星邮轮首次成为主要赞助商之一。

他也感谢槟州各姓氏宗祠联合委员会及槟州各姓氏青年团义务协助举办这项盛会，以推动槟州的文化活动，并使这项盛会吸引外州及外国人民参与。

他指出，这项新春庙会落在华人新年初七举办，意义更深长，因为初七是“人日”，以及这项盛会也是在槟城乔治市世界文化遗产地区内举行。

他强调，推动文化不是只靠金钱，文化的价值及含意也是非常的重要，举办新春庙会也是为了关怀、爱护及发扬光大华人文化。

他续强调，因此，槟州政府鼓励及赞助这项盛会的举行。

冀槟民“加油”添龙胎

林冠英透露，在槟州政府的“宝贝计划”下，凡是于2011年1月1日之后在槟州出世的婴儿，都将获得200令吉补助金，所以在龙年即将来临之时，槟州人民应该更加“加油”，因为他们在获得“龙胎”的同时，也将获得200令吉，而且如果他们喜获双胞胎，则将获得的是400令吉。

祥龙献瑞庆壬辰文化庙会大会主席，槟州行政议员黄汉伟欢迎丽星邮轮与依恩奥酒店赞助，与州政府一同推动举办这次的新春庙会。

RM50,000 annual grant for Penang's inter-religious council

GEORGE TOWN: The state government will give a RM50,000 annual grant to the Penang Chapter of the Malaysian Consultative Council of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and Taoism (MCCBCHST) to promote inter-religious harmony.

Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng made the announcement after meeting 15 representatives from the council on Friday. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Chief Minister II Dr P. Ramasamy and state executive councillors Phee Boon Poh and Wong Hon Wai at Komtar.

"The state government will also extend the yearly educational school funding to Punjabi schools.

"We will also be working with the Penang Hindu Endowment Board to find a suitable site where Hindu final rites can be performed on the seafront, both on the island and mainland,” said Lim, who heads the non-Muslim Religious Affairs department.

He added that the government would also organised a Wesak Day open house.

The council's Penang Chapter chairman Bishop Anthony Selvanayagam expressed his gratitude to the state government for its support.

續與五大宗教理事會州分會成員對話‧檳政府迎來4項協議

（檳城）檳州政府於去年首設的檳州非回教宗教事務委員會，繼會見全國五大宗教理事會之後，昨日（6日）也首次跟該理事會檳州分會成員舉行對話，雙方達致4項協議。

這4項協議分別是州政府將撥出常年撥款5萬令吉給五大宗教理事會檳州分會、制度化撥款給學校的計劃擴大至本遮普（Punjabi）學校、州政府將首辦衛塞節門戶開放，以及跟興都信託基金會連同興都教徒安排一個適合的濱海地點，作為最後葬禮儀式用途，即讓興都教徒可把鮮花及白米撒入海中。

上述會議由檳州首席部長林冠英主持，出席者包括了檳州第二副首長拉瑪沙米、檳州行政議員彭文寶、黃漢偉、五大宗教理事會檳州分會主席安東尼主教、各宗教組織代表如佛總林展鵬、錫克教組織蘇興達巴爾星、興都教組織巴亞班、道教總會檳州分會主席黃國創以及其他成員等。

林冠英：不一定每年一次
有需要就召開會議

林冠英說，州政府首設檳州非回教宗教事務委員會，主要是考慮到檳州多數為非回教徒，因此應有此部門來關注這些事務，同時促進各宗教和諧以及建立文明對話。

他說，昨日舉行的是一項常年會議，但不一定是每年一次，只要有需要，便會召開會議。

安東尼則說，今次的會面建立了良好的對話環境，他認為這種對話方式應繼續下去。（星洲日報／大北馬）

308前資產適度公開 檳議員料下週公佈財產

（檳城4日訊）檳行政議員財產料下週公佈。據悉，各行政議員的財產申報都非常詳盡，但公開予公眾的資料不會是申報的全內容。針對308前的資產，行政議員可在保護其他人隱私下作適度公開，預料最後的公開內容與雪蘭莪州大同小異。

首長林冠英去年12月12日宣佈，將於一個月內公佈檳州行政議員財產後，州政府也火速處理申報工作。據悉，各行政議員已完成申報，並上呈首長。是次申報表格，是往年各行政議員申報的“升級版”，資料要求更詳盡。

申報資料較往年詳盡

過往，州政府使用的填報表格是以中央政府的公職人員財產申報表格為藍本，內容簡單粗糙。州政府為提高透明度，便依據有關藍本進行提升與修整。有行政議員透露，新版內容中要求申報的資料，比原來版本詳盡、繁雜，但他們不愿告知詳情。

無論如何，檳房屋委員會主席黃漢偉認為，是次申報確比以往深入，甚至連所擁有土地的“洛號碼”（Lot number）都需填上，非常仔細。

他週三接受《光明日報》訪問時指出，申報資料雖詳盡，但開放予公眾的資料，應是議員收入、車貸、產業融資貸款（房屋、土地及其他等）、供期和股票等。財產資料以308前後界分，以厘清議員當官前後的“身家”，表明不存在利益苟且，一切依法行事。

“我覺得公佈議員財產，不是滿足公眾對政治人物的財務狀況的好奇。相反，是要展示清清白白做官、不將人民錢財放進自己口袋的作法，我們是用行動證明一切。”

他說，會將資產做308前後對比，是因部份議員在308前便有家庭或個人事業。有關資產可能是家族聯名、合資，屬共同擁有業務，不分開可能會引起公眾混淆，誤認為當議員“真有好康頭”，是不公平的。

資料公佈與雪州雷同

他說，所以公佈的資料不會是填報的全部，如無意外將與雪州大同小異。預料，308後的議員收入、購入產業和擁有的資產，會是公開的重點，但一切仍需首長決定。

他指出，308前都屬議員擔任公職前的收入和資產，各議員可在保護屬家族事業、前合伙人或聯名
者的隱私與人身安全下，申報後選擇以不影響與破壞其他人隱私方式，做適度的公開。

他說，州政府跨出重重障礙，選擇公佈財產已將從政者應具備的清廉與道德，推到另一個高度。人民應更注重議員308後的收入與財產情況，了解民聯議員將“清清白白當官”，落實在擔任公職上。

彭文寶：公佈財產 糾正無官不貪偏見

“無官不貪”是人民的偏見與迷思，以為一登龍門便能升官發財。檳衛生、福利及愛心社會委員會主席彭文寶矢言州政府公佈議員財產，就是要糾正偏見，至於公佈多少申報資料，交首長定奪。

“我們都依足表格要求，將個人財產、名下擁有的車子產業甚至股票，都詳細報上，一切已在首長手中。只是，有多少內容被公開，就由首長決定。”

他表示，個人了解，首長將所有資料進行核對，以確保所呈資產資料都屬正確與真實。人民應在財產資料公佈後，仔細分辨308前後的財產擁有，是有區別的，如果一名議員沒在“有權”後以權謀私，才是好官。

“首長已準備公佈了，那國陣呢?人民應該看一看，不是人人做官都要‘吃錢’，國陣部長級們也應一起公佈。”

即将于大年初七（1月29日），下午3时至午夜12时举办的年度新春文化庙会，一如以往在古迹区即打铜仔街、本头公巷、大铳巷、打石街、亚贵街、四方巷、牛干冬及甘榜哥南举行。节目丰富多彩，通过4大主题区，即“信仰”、“饮食”、“文艺”及“保健”，带出中华文化5000年的精髓。

11日晚举行亮灯仪式

筹委会主席谢川伟对《光华日报》指出，预计今年会挂上5000个灯笼，目前逾90%已挂上，并会在一周内全数挂好。而亮灯仪式将在1月11日，晚上7时进行。届时，大会将邀请槟州首长林冠英及大会主席黄汉伟行政议员等，主持是项亮灯仪式。

“我们预计在1月5日开始搭建中央舞台，并会在原有的牌楼上加上2条祥龙的设计。此外，我们也将会增建5个中国式亭子，分布在活动会场内各处。除了点缀会场的气氛，也让公众可以拍照留念。”

Almost finished: Work on the repainting of Kampung Melayu flats' Block B in Air Itam is 70% completed.
THE repainting of Kampung Melayu flats’ Block B in Air Itam, Penang, is expected to be completed in a month.

State Town and Country Planning, Housing and Arts Committee chairman Wong Hon Wai said the repainting was already 70% completed.

“Much of the exterior has already been repainted, and work on the interior is expected to begin soon.

“The 15-storey flats’ block al-ready looks much better than before,” he told reporters after visiting the flats.

The flats now spot white, beige, red, dark green and light grey colours.

The repainting work had started on Oct 24.

Kampung Melayu Community Development and Security Committee (JKKK) deputy chairman Arifin Abidin said he had received positive comments from the residents.

“They liked the bright colours which enliven the atmosphere.

“Some even joked that the flats look like an army barrack due to the combination of colours,” said the retired civil servant, who had lived in the block for more than 30 years.

The state government is footing 80% of the RM270,000 repainting cost while the rest comes from public donations.

The Kampung Melayu flats consist of Block A and Block B that were built in the early and late 1970s respectively. Both blocks have about 960 units.

The blocks had undergone RM1.13mil rewiring works along the corridors which were completed in June.

Earlier, Wong, who is also Air Itam assemblyman, distributed schooling aid to 51 needy children from various primary schools in Air Itam.

Each of them received a bag, a set of school uniform, stationery items and a shopping voucher worth about RM200 in total, sponsored by the Penang Zakat Ma-nage­­­­ment Centre.

The distribution was held at the Kampung Melayu JKKK community service centre on Saturday.

Single mother Shamsiah Othman, 43, said the contribution would greatly lessen her financial burden.

She said the timing was just right as the new school term would reopen tomorrow.

The restaurant helper accompanied her daughter Nur Athirah Abdul Halim, 11, to receive the contribution.

Press Interview on declining number of students in Chinese primary school in Balik Pulau

Penang State EXCO YB Wong Hon Wai said there are currently about 3000 unit of houses been built since 2008 in Balik Pulau and are now in different stages of construction.

This will give a boost to the Chinese primary school in Balik Pulau and the effect can be seen in the next 5 to 10 years. He cited the example of a housing project next to Tao Tung Primary School at Balik Betong. Although the OC has been approved, but it will still take a while for the purchasers to move in and made the necessary arrangement for their kids to transfer to the school.

YB Wong cited the declining birth rate among the Chinese community is the main reason for the small numbers of intake in Chinese school in Balik Pulau.

浮罗山背新生逐年少

（槟岛西南区1日讯）缺乏就业机会，年轻人口外流以及华裔生育率降低，浮罗山背微型华小新生人数逐年下降，3所学校的明年度一年级新生不超过10人，另外3所的人数也只是保持在10余人！

据了解，人数少于10人的新生为浮罗勿洞华小、双溪槟榔港口育才小学及班台亚齐振华小学，至于新路头育华、文丁大同及双溪槟榔新民，也只有10余个新生。

浮罗山背共有8所华小，另两所崇德及圣心是属于A型华小。由于学生来源锐减，微型华小全校学生人数大致上未超过90人。

虽然说浮罗山背近年来屋业发展蓬勃，然而，年轻人口外流及华裔生育率降低已是不争的事实，使到新生人数逐年下滑。

当然，位于偏远乡村的振华及浮罗勿洞华小，因为缺乏屋业发展及就业机会，无法留住年轻人，逐渐形成老人村。

据悉，大同华小的新生原本也只有7人，后经过董事部努力作家访，招新生以及教育局的严正看待，分区制度化调派新生，该校最终有12名新生。

蔡天送：屋业无助人口回流

育才学校董事长蔡天送说，虽然已有许多屋业计划在浮罗山背展开，但仍无法促使人口回流，让微型华小摆脱新生短缺问题，因为许多购屋者纯粹是置业投资，有者则是准备在退休后才到浮罗养老。

由于浮罗山背近年来的屋价已被炒高，据他大略估计，大部分的购屋者都是外来投资者，大约只有30％的浮罗人在当地置产。

该校明年大约只有7、8个新生，全校人数逾70人。

骆万泉：缺工作年轻人离乡

振华学校董事长骆万泉表示，当地缺乏工作机会，而且，也未有屋业计划，许多年轻人离乡背井到外发展，小学新生来源逐渐减少，纵使董事部再努力，也是徒然的。

他说，该校明年只有8个一年级新生，另加3名转校生，全校学生人数53人。

叶松林：救救新民救救孩子

新民学校董事长叶松林说，由于年轻人到外发展，只有小部分留守祖业，从事种植业，“老人村”已逐渐成形，因此他希望新搬来的学生家长踊跃将孩子送到该校求学，以确保微型华小的未来受到保障。

他希望家长能“救救新民，也能救救孩子”，确保新民的学生来源不受影响之余，也能因为家园靠近学校，方便家长照料孩子及管制他们的一举一动。

黄汉伟：发展成效至少需5年

槟州房屋城市及乡村规划及房屋事务委员会主席黄汉伟行政议员说，虽然一系列屋业计划如火如荼进行，不过，他相信要5至10年，才能看到发展计划所带来的成效。

“例如浮罗文丁大同学校旁的屋业计划，尚在等待购屋者陆续搬入。”

据统计，浮罗山背已完工、兴建中或已批准的房屋单位共有2988个，店屋、办公室及3层楼商场单位为48个。

他指出，微型华小新生来源逐渐下降是一个趋势，毕竟华裔生育率降低以及家长选择学校的心态作祟。

“学生来源减少的趋势不只发生在浮罗山背，槟岛其他地区包括我的亚依淡选区也同样面对这个问题。”

文丁大同：12人
新路头育华：逾10人
双溪槟榔新民：11人

黄汉伟：与升旗山脚居民商量对策 解决游客涌入交通问题

（槟城1日讯）槟州城乡策划、房屋及艺术行政议员黄汉伟披露，他刚刚联同升旗山机构一行人与升旗山脚居民开会，聆听他们针对大批游客近期涌入造成当地交通阻塞的投诉。

黄汉伟也是亚依淡区州议员兼升旗山机构董事。他称，虽然欢迎游客到来，但不希望就此影响当地居民的生活。为此，该机构安排与当地居民会面，聆听他们的心声和看法，以寻求解决方案。

他周六受邀为“阳光年货购物嘉年华－龙腾瑞气”主持开幕礼上致词时表示，在圣诞节当天就吸引了6000名游客上升旗山游玩；而11月及12月的周末则约有4000名游客。

系列节目展现文化

他说，2011年在槟州政府的领导下，吸引了大批游客的到来，尤其近两个月来，更有大量外坡及外国游客争相涌入槟城，为槟城带来无限商机，对州内的餐饮、酒店、零售业等带来一定的效应，但也要正视大量车子涌入而造成市区及旅游景点一带交通阻塞的问题。

阳光百货超级市场总经理余锦明说，阳光百货超市集团今年推出“年货购物嘉年华”，带有“龙”年寓意的年货产品，吸引消费者的注意和购买欲。至于装饰方面，以龙为主题“龙腾瑞气”增强点缀购物环境。

Celebrating an ancient art

TRUE to the adage ‘practice makes perfect’, student Lok Jun Ting has been practising Chinese calligraphy under his father’s guidance every day without fail for the past nine years.

His effort and hard work paid off when he won the second prize in the Chinese calligraphy competition (secondary school category) organised by Sunshine Wholesale Mart Sdn Bhd in Penang.

The 17-year-old student of SMJK Heng Ee said his father made sure that he practised his calligraphy every day.

“My brother and I have to write on three sheets of paper a day to train our writing and our efforts have now paid off,” he said.

His brother Jun Wei, 12, from SRJK (C) Sum Sun won the first prize in the competition’s primary school category.

Jun Ting said Jun Wei had been receiving guidance from their father Peng San, 48, since he was six.

“Our father, who works as a factory production operator, always reminds us not to forget our culture, especially Chinese calligraphy,” he said, adding that his father also taught calligraphy on Sunday.

Chung Ling High School student Ng Siang Yew, 17, who won first prize in the secondary school category, said that to be good in calligraphy, one must have keen interest.

“Besides that, constant practice also makes perfect,” he said after the prize-giving ceremony at the Sunshine Farlim Shopping Mall recently.

The mall also launched its Chinese New Year theme and concept — ‘Prosperous Lunar New Year’ — at the event.

Jit Sin Independent High School student Chang Di, 16, came in third in the secondary school category.

SRJK (C) Kwang Hwa pupil Tan Peng Yin, 10, who won the second prize in the primary school category, said this was her second time participating in the competition.

Her school mate Chung Qi Qian, 12, won the third prize in the category.

Sunshine Wholesale Mart Sdn Bhd general manager Yee Kam Ming said the younger generation Chinese were showing more interest in Chinese calligraphy.

“During our previous competition last February, we had participants from different races and religion taking part in the event.

“It brings unity and closeness among our participants besides keeping the tradition alive,” he said.

For the secondary school category, the first prize winner walked away with a RM200 shopping voucher, while the second prize winner won a RM150 shopping voucher and the third prize winner received a RM100 shopping voucher.

They also went home with a hamper and trophy each.

The primary school category saw the first prize winner walking away with a RM150 vou-cher, second prize winner a RM100 voucher and the third prize winner a RM80 voucher, besides a hamper and trophy each.

Twenty consolation prize winners in both categories received a RM30 shopping voucher and a trophy each.

Also present was Penang Town and Country Planning, Housing and Arts Committee chairman Wong Hon Wai.
